Clare Bartholomew is a Melbourne based freelance actor, writer, and director.

She teaches clown master classes and performance independently and for; Circus Oz - most recently for their Indigenous training program Blakrobatics, Victoria University, La Trobe University, Clown Doctors Australia, The Tasmanian Circus Festival, Slipstream Circus, Westside Circus, Performing Older Women's Circus (POW), and The Women's Circus.

She has worked as a Clown Doctor at Children's Hospitals' in Melbourne and around Australia for 13 years and is also a Training Advisor for The Humour Foundation (Clown Doctors) nationally.

Clare won the Comedy Festival Foreign Exchange Award, Moosehead Comedy Award and a Green Room Award nomination for her solo show One Man's Business. Clare MCs' and creates unique characters and short sideshow/cabaret acts for festivals and events performing in historic travelling venues such as The Famous Spiegeltent, The Tiny Top, The Gaiety Grande, Umbrella Revolution and The Bosco Theatre.

In 2007 & 08 she was a guest act for Finucaine & Smith's multi award winning The Burlesque Hour on its European tour to Italy and Croatia, its Melbourne season at The Famous Spiegel tent and for The Adelaide Cabaret Festival and for their production, Salon De Dance.

In 2010 she co-founded with Nicci Wilks and Derek Ives a new physical comedy/dark clowning ensemble called We! 3! In 2012 they co-wrote and performed The Long Pigs, directed by Susie Dee.

Since 2006 she has co-produced with her company (Button Eye Productions) the highly successful cabaret/comedy act Die Roten Punkte (DRP) a German indie pop punk duo that has won numerous awards at festivals around the world including being nominated for six Green Room Awards and winning Best Production - Cabaret 2008 in Melbourne, Best English Production - Montreal Fringe, Best Comedy - Victoria Fringe, Most Outstanding Production - Ottawa Fringe. Since 2007. Die Roten Punkte has been performed at Joe's Pub, Barrow Street Theatre and Ars Nova all in NYC, Sydney Opera House, Brisbane Powerhouse, The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, The Wildside Festival - Montreal, Auckland International Arts Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival (nominated for a Total Theatre Award), the Adelaide Fringe Festival, The Dublin Fringe, The Perth International Arts Festival, all over the UK, Spoleto Festival USA, Blumenthal Performing Arts Centre - North Carolina, Rurfestspiele Festival, Recklinghausen, Bar JederVernunft, Berlin, Ann Arbor Summer Festival, Michigan, Sushi Arts, San Diego and to every major city across Canada numerous times. Kunst Rock (Art Rock) was recently nominated for two Cabaret Greenroom Awards for Best Ensemble and Best Original Songs.

Most recently Clare has been the guest Comedy and Clown Director for Circus Oz directing work for their latest production that that recently toured to NY for 8 weeks.

She is currently writing and in pre-production for a feature length film to be co-produced by Original Pictures in Manitoba, Canada to be filmed in 2013 featuring the DRP characters Otto & Astrid Rot.
